summer was supposed to save me…

or so I thought. But is it really summer if the sun’s not shining and the sky stays grey for longer than its supposed to. Maybe im still here, because summer is still waiting for me, waiting for me to be ready.

The concept of summer was something that was constantly on my mind as a child. Something I looked forward to, but also something I feared.

To me, it always seemed like during summer, anything was possible.

The older I got, the more I held onto that thought. In summer, I could become someone else—someone fun, someone who didn’t worry—because I trusted whatever summer had planned for me. I could forget everything else about my life and pretend I only existed during the summertime.

So, to remember the person I was every summer, I began collecting things—small objects, notes, photos, scraps of moments—anything that could remind me of who I once was, and who I might still become one day.
